November 2000

Sadly, we have lost two members this year. Norman Connor and Doug Bland. Norman was a former Chairman and Doug was Choir Secretary, both are sadly missed.

10th February 2000

Another new member?

We were joined tonight by Barry King, he sat between me and Roy Handy.

The Uniforms have arrived

They look really good, I like the new badge. We are still waiting for the new ties though.

20th January 2000

New Chairman Required

After three years of hard work, Doug Pierce has decided to not stand for re-election as Chairman. As yet nobody is willing to volunteer to take over, let's hope the post is filled soon.

News from Guetersloh.

From Anke Grossestrangmann of the Firebrigade Wind Orchestra.
The name of the concert will be: Musik ohne Grenzen. What is the best translation in English: Music without borders or Music without bounds? You see, "Grenze" has a double meaning in German, it´s "frontiers" on the one hand and "limit" on the other. How can you best do that in English?

New Photograph Planned

We are having a new photograph of the choir, it will be taken outside once we have the new uniforms and when the spring flowers are in bloom.

13th January 2000

New Choir Member

After attending practices for the last month, Frank Hill has now joined the choir, a warm welcome Frank.

Details have yet to be finalised, but we will probably make a recording around May 2000, to be ready for the new concert season starting in September.

The organisers of "Rotherham Talking Newspapers for the Blind" has contacted Norman to tell him they have now raised £5,000

We had a new face in the Baritones tonight, Frank Hill, let's hope it is the first of many.

We have been invited to take part in an Anglo/German celebration when we visit Gütersloh. Not quite sure what it involves but a few ears pricked up when a barrel of beer was mentioned.

October 1999, Founder Member Dies

Sadly John Lenthal died recently. John was a founder member and a bass. When the choir was first started John walked round Anston knocking on doors asking the men to join our choir, without John there would never have been a choir. He used to sing solos and will be sadly missed by all members. A large section of the choir attended John's funeral, we sung one of his favourite Hymns Gwahoddiad.
